The 14th Annual Regular Expression Day - June 1st 2021

For 14 years I've been trying to spread the joy - nay, the awesomeness - of Regular Expressions. And while my love of Regular Expressions continues to grow with each year, it turns out, so does the complexity and overhead of adulting. For the past few years, this day of reflection has snuck up on me. And, each year, it becomes harder and harder to plan anything fun. Throw in a global pandemic and a crazy-ass work schedule, and things get even worse. As such, I have nothing at all planned for this year.

But, I felt the need to at least document the Day since there is a comfort in knowing that Regular Expressions are there for us when we need them. They don't judge us for being tired, or overworked, or distracted, or depressed. They just sit there, waiting for their moment to shine. Like a dogo or a life-long friend.

And, here's to the eternal hope that next year, I'll actually have something fun planned!

@Gavin,

That's a pretty cool site. I love how it actually breaks-down the pattern and gives you a detailed explanation of what each character is doing. That can be super helpful 💪 Excellent suggestion.

I believe in love. I believe in compassion. I believe in human rights. I believe that we can afford to give more of these gifts to the world around us because it costs us nothing to be decent and kind and understanding. And, I want you to know that when you land on this site, you are accepted for who you are, no matter how you identify, what truths you live, or whatever kind of goofy shit makes you feel alive! Rock on with your bad self!
