Ben & Ryan Podcast - Episode 5: Cloud Hosting With Dakota Clum

By
Published in

On this week's show, we talk to Dakota Clum, the CTO of xByte Cloud. While many of us in web development live in a world of auto-scaling groups, cloud functions, and Kubernetes (K8), it's certainly not the only way to do development—many of us still live in a world of Virtual Private Servers (VPS) and deploy code to production using git pull (and other not-so-automated process).

When it comes to web development, there's no "right way" to do it—only a different set of trade-offs that make the most sense for your team and business constraints. On today's episode, we talk about a number of those trade-offs; and how managed hosting helps people stop worrying about infrastructure and start worrying about solving customer problems.

Also, if you want to make this listen into a drinking game, I suggest taking a shot whenever one of us says "Risk Appetite."

I believe in love. I believe in compassion. I believe in human rights. I believe that we can afford to give more of these gifts to the world around us because it costs us nothing to be decent and kind and understanding. And, I want you to know that when you land on this site, you are accepted for who you are, no matter how you identify, what truths you live, or whatever kind of goofy shit makes you feel alive! Rock on with your bad self!
