Working Code Podcast - Episode 202: Um, Actually

This week on the show, Adam shakes up our usual format by organizing a game for me and Tim. Inspired by a segment that he saw on the now defunct College Humor site, Adam reads us a series of statements about web development. Most of each statement is true; but, part of each state is false. The challenge is to figure out which part of each statement is false; and how we can correct the false part to be true.

For example, if Adam were to say:

"While ColdFusion is considered one of the greatest programming languages ever created, it hasn't seen any new development in recent years."

... I would buzz-in and say:

"Um, actually it has seen new development. In fact, Adobe ColdFusion has followed a biannual release cadence over the last few years; and, with a move towards a subscription model, they are hoping to start shipping with an annual release schedule in the near future."

To be honest, at the onset of the game, I just assumed that I was going to crush Tim. After all, I code every day and he's moved into more of a management track for the past few years. It was quite humbling, however, to be neck-and-neck with Tim for most of the game-play.

@Samuel,

Um, actually, now that you say that, I think I remember Adam mentioning something. I used to see College Humor stuff, but only in random searches, so I didn't really follow the goings-on very much. I appreciate the links 🙌

I believe in love. I believe in compassion. I believe in human rights. I believe that we can afford to give more of these gifts to the world around us because it costs us nothing to be decent and kind and understanding. And, I want you to know that when you land on this site, you are accepted for who you are, no matter how you identify, what truths you live, or whatever kind of goofy shit makes you feel alive! Rock on with your bad self!
