Project HUGE: Building A Home Gym - CFF Landmine Rowing Attachments

When you're young and just getting into working out, all you want to is bench and curl. Build up your "show muscles." Unfortunately, this creates imbalances around your shoulder joints. These imbalances then, at some point, can cause injury (been there, done that). I am no stranger to this problem and, as such, I wanted to make sure that my home gym emphasized pulling movements in order to build up proper strength around my shoulders.

My latest additions to the home gym roster are two Olympic bar rowing attachments from the CFF Landmine series. Both of these attachments slide onto the Olympic bar sleeve before the weights are mounted.

The first is the CFF Landmine Double D Triangle.

The really nice thing about the CFF Landmine Double D Triangle is that the handles are attached above the level of the bar. If you've ever tried to do Olympic bar rows with your standard cable-row triangle, you've probably had to keep a smaller (or more peculiar) range of motion. This is because the handles are so close to the bar, you end up hitting your chest with the weights before you really get a full extension. By mounting the handles above the sleeve, it puts the handles closer to the lip of the weight-plate, which allows you to really get that fuller range of motion.

If I had one complaint about the CFF Landmine Double D Triangle, I wish the handle bars were ever-so-slightly thicker.

The other attachment is the CFF Landmine HD T-Bar Handle. This works the same way as the Double D, but allows for a wider grip, putting the movement more in the transverse plane (as opposed to the sagittal plane). This is really the movement that I need to hit hard as it is definitely where my biggest imbalances are in the shoulder.

The CFF Landmine HD T-Bar has slightly thicker handles which feel great in my hands. And, I'm not sure if this is a "feature" or a "bug", but you'll notice that the attachment of the bar comes in at a slight angle.

This means, depending on how you orient the bar when you attach it, the handles fall a little lower or a little higher on your body as you are rowing. The difference is small, but I definitely notice it. And, even if this is a product defect, it might actually be a nice way to hit the movement at a slightly different angle for variation.

As of now, here's the current home gym inventory:

Subtotal: $650.05

Subtotal: $815.02

Subtotal: $237.60

Subtotal: $122.46
Running Total: $1,825.13

At this point, there's really only one ingredient missing - the rack. And she be coming soon!
