Today was leg day, and it started off pretty well. I am off SPIKE for the time being but I tried something new for during-workout drink; I mixed a scoop of the protein powder in a water bottle and just kept diluting it as the workout went on. I think this worked nicely. As far as strength, I am still climbing up as my body remembers what it was like to be physical. On squats, I worked up to 225 x 8 reps. Then, I did some step ups. Things were going well, I felt strong, and then on my third set, right leg, 7th rep, my knee got very tight like someone was pushing hard against my knee cap. I have felt this pain before - three times before. I know what it means. I know what it means very well. It means that that knee is on the edge of being fucked for a while (pardon my language, but this is emotional for me).
I am sooo sick and tired of this. I think it's time to get some serious help for this. Time to go back to the physical therapist. First, I will try going back to the Chelsea Piers Sports Medicine Office and see what the PT there can do. I have had excellent success with Active Release Techniques for this problem and would like to look into that as well. I will have to see what my health insurance can deal with. On top of that, I should probably get a new pair of shoes and some very firm, custom orthotics. The orthotics I have right now are off the shelf, but came highly recommended.
I have a dream and that dream is to one day be able to use my knees as they were meant to be used - without pain. Ok, I also have a dream to look the Arnold Schwarzenneger, but I figure the knee has to be fixed first :)
