Testing For NULL Values In A ColdFusion Query Result Set

Have problem with verifying NULL value in query result in CF. Tried Ben's trick but not working consistantly. Keep googling and found this link, and I think after testing it with several scenarios the combination or Len(Trim(CoulumnName)) seems to work and gave the same result constantly
