  • Creating Microsoft Excel Documents With ColdFusion And XML

I'd like to thank you once again for this post. It helped a lot on a project I was on. I couldn't really use POI, I don't think, because from what I read about POI, a tabular direct display of the data was required...what I mean is what was displayed had to be columns straight down from the dat... read more »

  • A Better Understanding Of MVC (Model-View-Controller) Thanks To Steven Neiland

Posted on May 23, 2012 at 12:35 PM

I should probably study this more. My usage of MVC isn't always up to par. I used to work for a company that used it, but I have since then fallen away from using it, and I sometimes get confused about where things should go in a strictly MVC environment.... read more »

  • Movies As A Religious Experience

Acting can, in a way, ruin the movie-goer's experience. I used to be able to get so caught up in movies and their plots, and totally engaged. But lately, I haven't been able to as much with a lot of movies. I try not to ruin for other people by keeping my thoughts to myself the whole time.... read more »

I'll add an example to the discussion...in acting itself. I've done some acting, and I have been around actors who didn't know their own lines, stumbled over mine, and completely ad-libbed, which can be a good thing, but can be hard to follow when the other actors know their lines and are follow... read more »

@Brian K, I think your philosophy is best! I am ok w/ the stay-at-home for women thing...I like to work, and don't mind it. I would rather it be a thing I "want to" do instead of a thing I "have to" do. I know a lot of men don't feel they have this option and it is pr... read more »

@Brian K, I know this sounds weird to a lot of people these days, but I was raised in an environment where it is still highly encouraged that the man works and brings home the bacon and the woman doesn't work...she stays at home and takes care of the house, etc., and I am not completely opp... read more »

@Ben, I wanted to thank you so much for this! I was having a little problem with my jquery I had written, and I did a search on Google. Your blog popped up about the 5th or 6th answer down. Because they were above yours, I checked the others first before even realizing it was your blog.... read more »

@Brian K, I have had a top secret security clearance also, and I have been told since I have already had one, I could easily get one again with much less effort than someone who has never held one, so it is still considered somewhat of an advantage if I were going to apply for a job that re... read more »

@Brian Kresge & @Ben, a few years back, I had a ColdFusion contract which was supposed to roll into a full-time job. Now, that being said, that is FOR THE AVERAGE person...not someone, necessarily, who trains for the Tour De France. Even thoug... read more »

I don't know, you kind of had me at "Javascript Arrays". I got very distracted, and try as I might, I read the rest of it and couldn't really concentrate on much.
