CFFile Upload - The Filename, Directory Name, Or Volume Label Syntax Is Incorrect
Posted on Mar 28, 2013 at 5:28 AM
Java instructors in college may be partly at fault for the long filenames and getting their students in the habit of using long names. I remember my Java instructors encouraging us to use extremely long names and not abbreviate at all. They told us the filenames should be descriptive and abbrev... read more »

ColdFusion / JavaScript Genius? Join Me, And My Growing Team At InVisionApp.com!

Am I a genius? Absolutely! There are a lot of people who would attest to that, too. Am I more specifically a JavaScript genius? No, I couldn't really claim that. I have learned a whole lot about JQuery and JavaScript and how to use it in my current position, but I think you are probably look... read more »

Creating An Image Zoom And Clip Effect With jQuery

@Laurie, You were right that you had a right to comment about it and say whatever you felt. You were also right to stick up for yourself. That's something that is a responsibility for everyone. I was not sticking up for myself per se. Honestly, if someone craps all over @Ben, I wouldn't... read more »

Creating An Image Zoom And Clip Effect With jQuery

I guess there are some girls who are more uptight about stuff like that. I'm glad I am in the more easy-going column. If you were a dude, the other dudes on here would have jumped all over you, up and down. But because you are a lady, they are showing you respect and NOT saying anything. But... read more »

A Better Understanding Of MVC (Model-View-Controller) Thanks To Steven Neiland

@Ben, oh, I know what you mean about work keeping you busy! I can certainly relate to that! What my situation was is this: At work, they got to where they expected me to do off site work, but wouldn't give me access to the database. So for most of my applications, I needed to be able to... read more »

Creating An Image Zoom And Clip Effect With jQuery

lol this subject has only come up half a million times or so. This post was a relatively long time ago. @Ben has really cleaned up a lot of his code and examples because of comments like the previous comment. I, personally, think it is totally unnecessary and love this example...I think it is... read more »

@Ben: Very cool! It's pretty awesome when you can control your environment, especially when you enjoy that type and level of development. But I can see the usefulness in being able to do both/either. Don't get me wrong...give me all day, or in other words....a HUGE amount of time...and I... read more »

Ok, so I have a question for you about this position. The title mentions both ColdFusion and JavaScript. I know we have talked about this before, and I'm not trying to be asinine, dumb, or hard to get along with, but since a big part of the description is JavaScript and it sounds like a big par... read more »

@Ben, So, you're doing this without a database? I would like to pick your brain as to how you are doing that. Are you using an approach kind of like this: read more »

Quiet: The Power Of Introverts In A World That Can't Stop Talking By Susan Cain

I don't think we mean totally different things about arousal. I think I was talking about basically the same thing you were. Though the arousal I am referring to includes the typical type of arousal people talk about when they use the word, but is not referring solely to that. But it does incl... read more »

Quiet: The Power Of Introverts In A World That Can't Stop Talking By Susan Cain
Posted on Aug 1, 2012 at 8:51 PM
I used to be considered, without a doubt, unarguably, extroverted. Anyone who ever spoke to me for longer than, say, a minute, would've rated me on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being introverted and 10 being extroverted, an 11 or greater. That's how extroverted I was. But over time, I began to s... read more »

Thanks. To clarify, I wasn't trying to be critical about the company I work for, I was just trying to work out in my mind the application of mvc to the architecture we have here (if possible). I'm sure they have their ways for doing things, and I really just want to work everything in to be the... read more »

@Steven, I may have slightly exagerated that, but just about every folder does have it's own Application.cfc file, and I have no control or authority over that. And when I say just about every folder, what I should say to clarify is...every folder under the root directory. Now, each of th... read more »
