A Moment That Touched Me - The Fountainhead

I really don't want to string this out as I will be out maneuvered by the more astute posters. However, blogs are for opinions, even plebes, right? If your pursuit for self-fulfillment interferes with my pursuit for self-fulfillment who gets to be fulfilled? My "America is America" st... read more »

Sorry to vent all over your post. If I knew a guy like Roarke, I'd never invite him to a party (he wouldn't come anyhow), and I'd push my grocery cart three aisles down to avoid eye contact. I just wanted to kick him the entire way through the book. It would be fine if we each had a 1000x1000 plo... read more »

Building Single-Page Applications Using jQuery And ColdFusion With Ben Nadel (Video Presentation)

George - Sheesh! You are really stuck on this crawling thing. I can tell you that the majority of us that would be designing such an application would not have it hanging out there for public access. Now, the one issue might have to do with accessibility for visually impaired users.... read more »

ColdFusion Query of Queries And Undefined Cell Values
Posted on Oct 22, 2009 at 2:43 PM
I just ran into this old problem again. I have a massive query with about half of the rows having null data in one of the fields. Using the like clause %#filter#% on the QoQ was returning all rows with undefined data above the first row that met the like criteria. The remaini... read more »

Hold on here for a second... Are those your actual numbers? Please tell me that is deadlift! I know your knee is preventing you from squatting heavy. If you are benching 385 x 3, then I'm thinking you just need to stay huge! Can your app call back to the last workout same exercise so... read more »

Object Oriented Programming And ColdFusion - What's The Point?
Posted on Oct 27, 2008 at 2:31 PM
Peter makes sense because he is a pragmatist. He wants to make the most money, which means completing projects that meet every objective as quickly as possible. While pure theoretical OO is nice, you can spend a whole lot of time preparing for something that is a guaranteed flat result.... read more »

Object Oriented Programming And ColdFusion - What's The Point?
Posted on Oct 27, 2008 at 2:05 PM
I just want to make sure that the anemic data driven apps that we are so often confronting are appropriate for OOP. There is a lot of overhead for object-relational mapping (even though CF9 will supposedly have it built in). And, to be frank, OOP breaks some of ColdFusion's Rapid Application Deve... read more »

Hal Helms On Object Oriented Programming - Day Two

So, we know that good solid OO is necessary for enterprise team-development apps maintainability and development. The question is... Is code generated anemic domain pseudo-OO good for tiny team apps or smaller scope apps? Let's say that you plan on the app being in existence for 15 ye... read more »

Hal Helms On Object Oriented Programming - Day Two
Posted on Oct 22, 2008 at 10:44 AM
It really seems like data centric applications which are considered small applications or projects should just stick with an MVC framework with procedural code. How can a small handful of people working on multiple projects and applications have the time and resources unless they were just extend... read more »

Project HUGE: Trying Out A 4-Exercise Limit

I find any lunges too much for my right knee which has some missing fluid sacks from surgery. Are you using a hard sole shoe like chuck taylors for squatting? I found that it really helped me with balance. That "waver" about halfway up is always hell on my knee. The less balancing the bett... read more »
