Yah, the idea of moving away from browser sniffing pre-dates jQuery. Back in the day it was relatively easy to check for MSIE or Netscape. Nowadays you'd have to check for MSIE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc. Not only that, but you'd have to check versions of each. And when the... read more »

i agree with dan. it's much more work up front to write "good" code (good being a) it runs, b) it's easily maintanable). why do i want it to be easily maintainable? not because i'm lazy. it's because maintenance is rarely "fun". developing new apps is fun. learning new tool... read more »

99% of my code is lowercase. i uppercase acronyms (CGI, URL, etc), and comparison operators (<cfif foo IS "bar"> ... </cfif>). i don't know why i do the latter. it just feels good and i cant' stop :)... read more »
