No Reservations Starring Catherine Zeta-Jones And Aaron Eckhart

I saw No Reservations Thursday night at the tail end of the week from hell. I was exhausted, a bit shaky, and really wanted nothing more than to just sit in a theater, any theater with air conditioning, and just zone out. As such, my feelings about No Reservations might be a bit skewed to the negative end of the spectrum, cause frankly, I wasn't totally there. It also doesn't help that I don't find Catherine Zeta-Jones attractive in the least (not sure why so many people do).

No Reservations was a cute, romantic comedy but I wouldn't say that it was really special in any way. It took about half an hour to really draw me into the story, and even then, I never fully cared about the characters. The high light of the movie was that fact that Aaron Eckhart is such a charmer; you can't help but enjoy his screen presence and his goofy, but lovable charisma.

Despite the fact that I am not a huge fan of hers, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Aaron Eckhart worked well together. Their chemistry was good and I bought into the fact that they could end up falling for each other. Even still, I almost found his relationship with the little girl more interesting that his relationship with her (Zeta-Jones). But, because of that, I am not sure how I felt about having the little girl plot line (starring Abigail Breslin of Little Miss Sunshine). While it did play into the overall relationship development, parts of me just felt distracted by the side story.

Actually, I don't think it was their story that bothered me (Eckhart / Breslin) - I think it was the relationship that Catherine Zeta-Jones had with Abigail Breslin. I never really cared about it and I didn't see enough growth in either of the characters in the context of this sub-plot line.

No Reservations, while a cute movie, is definitely a wait-for-video recommendation. Don't go spending $11.00 on this one.

Tonight I watched No Reservations with my daughters and their friends. It was nice to see a show that could be enjoyed without embarassing moments. My girls and I all found it a delightful movie that dealt with life's tragedies in a very realistic manner. I lost my husband 4 years ago and we know what it is to lose a love one and try to rebuild your life. Abigail Breslin is incredible... I also enjoyed her in the Ultimate Gift and hope to see her more often. Catherine and Aaron were exactlywhat I thought they would be..... Great movie....

I believe in love. I believe in compassion. I believe in human rights. I believe that we can afford to give more of these gifts to the world around us because it costs us nothing to be decent and kind and understanding. And, I want you to know that when you land on this site, you are accepted for who you are, no matter how you identify, what truths you live, or whatever kind of goofy shit makes you feel alive! Rock on with your bad self!
