Our Deepest Fear Is Not That We Are Inadequate

I was watching the movie Akeelah And The Bee this weekend. It was a pretty good movie and who doesn't like Laurence Fishburne and the very sexy Angela Bassett? During it, Akeelah read a most excellent quote that I thought I would share here:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?

Very good stuff.

Agreed. Angela IS uber sexy! I am a sucker for her stuff from Strange Days to Waiting to Exhale to How Stella Got Her Groove Back. She can do no wrong. Laurence is also an outstanding actor. The way he talks, you just get mesmerized.

Moni,

Yeah, she is awesome that way :) She is SO fierce in Strange Days. Excellent movie. Now that I think of it, I don't own that one... I'll have to remedy that :)

Thanks, I'm glad you like the blog!! Angela is a pretty busy lady lately especially with the twins!

O and Strange Days has got to be in the DVD collection. Its funny how when some films first release they arent recieved well but they eventually become a classic.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.' We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

I believe in love. I believe in compassion. I believe in human rights. I believe that we can afford to give more of these gifts to the world around us because it costs us nothing to be decent and kind and understanding. And, I want you to know that when you land on this site, you are accepted for who you are, no matter how you identify, what truths you live, or whatever kind of goofy shit makes you feel alive! Rock on with your bad self!
