I can only assume that this is a spam site or some sort of weird link farm site: http://clickblog.com.br/posts/Ecard It mentions my blog several times in the content but in a totally disconnected and non-sensical way. It even has the phrase "All content is the property of Ben Nadel and Kinky Solutions" in it. But it's all broken english. Very st... read more »

I see that you have been doing a lot of calendar stuff lately and I have question. How can I find the last monday of the month? TIA! Finding the last monday of the month, or last "whatever" day of the week, just takes a little bit of math. Basically, what you want to do is get the last week of the month. This we can easily do by finding the last ... read more »

In the previous post on ColdFusion calendar event scripting , I went over the basic architecture of adding single and repetitive events using just one database table and some clever struct-based indexing techniques for processing efficiency. Now, we are going to make the ColdFusion calendar system even more useful by allowing us to edit existing ... read more »

This morning, someone suggested that I try to make some Fan Art for the Tim Buntel photo on the Adobe ColdFusion 8 product page. The image didn't give me a whole lot to work with, but I gave it my best shot. I actually used both "levels" and "curves" to adust this image :) Way outside my comfort zone! ... read more »

I was just helping someone debug a strange ColdFusion error: 19.0 Must Be Within Range: ( 1 : 12 ). ColdFusion cannot determine the line of the template that caused this error. This is often caused by an error in the exception handling subsystem. Because ColdFusion wasn't giving us any template or line numbers, we basically had to start commenti... read more »

Last week, Peter Bell started blogging about building an object oriented calendar system. I have done some blog posts on the display of event calendars, but I was inspired by Pete's OOP posts to look more deeply into the actual setup and querying of events in ColdFusion and SQL server. Naturally, I will not be doing any OOP in this - I leave tha... read more »

I recently blogged about the new ColdFusion 8 OnMissingMethod() function that is available to ColdFusion components. I had assumed that it was meant for error handling and that my experiment to use OnMissingMethod() to handle non-existing functions was a silly, to-be-avoided misuse of the new functionality. Sean Corfield , the man who originall... read more »

Now that ColdFusion 8 has been released , the ColdFusion 8 release date contest is over, leaving Koen Brenner the victor with the outstanding guess of 7/30/2007. Congratulations Koen! I will be in touch shortly about your prize. The runners up, Mark Picker ( 7/28/2007 ) and Roland Keijzer ( 7/31/2007 ) came sooo close and will also be rewarde... read more »

Yesterday, Brian Kotek hinted that there was gonna be lots of blog chatter today. I think everyone who read that had hoped that he was referring to ColdFusion 8, but no one said anything specifically. Then, this morning, I get to the office to see that ColdFusion 8 is finally here! Woooohoooo! Way to go Adobe - you magnificant company, you! T... read more »

A while back, I wrote about how easy ColdFusion 8 is going to make image creation and manipulation . Of my multipart series on ColdFusion 8's new CFImage tag, I briefly touched upon its CAPTCHA functionality. A few people have contacted me since looking for a more detailed example of how CAPTCHA can actually be used. Before I show you the code, l... read more »

Last night, I went to see the new psychological thriller, I Know Who Killed Me, starring Lindsay Lohan. I didn't know anything about the movie before hand, and I really didn't go in with any sort of expectations - it was just a spur of the moment decision. I find that this is the best way to experience a movie because you are more likely to be ple... read more »

Nylon Technology is having its 10 Year Anniversary party today!! (There's about to be mad amounts of BBQ chicken in my stomach!) I have been here at Nylon for a little over 4 years, so I like to think that I've had a little something to do with it being able to exist; but, the truth is, Jim Curran, Steve Gruschcow, and John Coletti have kept thi... read more »

Here at Nylon Technology , we use GetMyTime.com to enter our daily timesheets. Overall, I think it's a fantastic service and provides a very efficient, easy-to-use application that makes entering time a non-issue. There is one thing, though, that irks me to no end and it has to be one of the word design decisions I have ever seen. One of the fe... read more »
