Trouble With My Mail Server

Hey all, I just realized I have been having a lot of trouble with my mail server over the last week or so. I have been really busy so didn't notice that I was not getting emails from my site. Sorry if you get a rush of emails out of my spool all of a sudden.

I use Google Hosted mail for my personal mail. But, when it comes to ColdFusion, I use an SMTP server on the ColdFusion machine.
It just "clicked" that notifications are probably what would be backed up in an outgoing spool.
I switched from hosting my own email server to using Google Apps for domains a couple of years ago and never looked back. If I can save anyone else the grief of running an email server, it's my duty to do so. :)
If you continue running into problems and decide to replace it I've used mailenable http://www.mailenable.com/standard_edition.asp on several machines and it's amazing.
The standard edition is free (it's all I have ever used to be honest) and it's SMTP server isn't restricted at all on the free version. It's fairly straightforward to setup and I've had it send thousands of emails from CF at once without it ever causing problems.
Beyond using it as an STMP server I can't give any advice though.

Yeah I went through a bunch of different SMTP servers for one of our servers trying to find one that was inexpensive and could handle the load. We paid for a couple that used to many resources on the server or would get backed up to easily until I came across mailEnable.
It uses an almost ridiculously small amount of resources on a machine compared to some other products I tried. It may take a few minutes to figure out where everything is but one you do there are tons of logs you can sift through if you want etc.
It's not the prettiest and standard is missing a ton of features over the paid version when you get beyond the SMTP server but if all you need is SMTP then it's amazing, it essentially an enterprise class SMTP server for free.
I've been using it for years now on several machines and I have never had an issue with it. You should try it out if you need a replacement, even do an article, it was something I know would have helped me back when I was looking for a good SMTP server.
choose a dedicated mail server to get all ur emails at one go. makes a better option and noting is skipped. i used to have so many problems when i have them distributed all over, so i put them all on one add-- and got a dedicated server and never had a problem again
